[ Oh god. Weiss had just turned the corner as it started to seep over the edge of the table. She knew exactly what she was asking the Warden for if the Warden ever decided to play Santa-- an easy-to-clean playroom slash experiment lab. ]

Did you two even bring towels?!

[ God. Weiss was going to run over to try to find some newspapers to try to get onto the floor to at least try to stop some of it. ]

It did not occur to me, no. [ He's not taking his eyes off the eruption, which has now spilled over to the floor. ]

... I knew I forgot something.

[ He stood there for a moment, still watching the eruption. It showed no sign of stopping at all. So cool... but he didn't want to upset snowflake girl either. What a dilemma.

He didn't have anything to use but a handkerchief. He held it forward sheepishly. ]

Sorry.

[ But kind of not. It was still neat. ]

[ Okay, there wasn't enough to stop that, so Weiss just runs over to start gathering the nearby books off the bottom shelf. ]

John, get the books off of that shelf.

[ She pointed to the bottom shelf on the opposite side. ]

Philip, you're going to ruin your shoes if you don't move out of the way.

Hm? Oh.

[ He sits on a nearby chair and pulls his feet up. So helpful. ]

[ He did what he was told, but he didn't look all that sure about it. ]

Isn't this considered against the rules?

[ And why did Philip get out of cleaning duty? ]

[ Weiss is hurrying some of the books over to another table, stacking them up. ]

Erupting a model volcano in the library is definitely against the rules. Saving the books is not. It isn't like we're checking them out and if we clean this up before we leave, then we can put them back. Whose idea was this to do this in here?

[ He looks up, now that the eruption is finally starting to die down. ] Ah, it was mine.

[ John just pointed at Philip to emphasize that it was, in fact, not his idea. He didn't say anything either. Maybe if he just kept doing what Weiss told him he could avoid being yelled at.

Anyway, she liked Philip, right? She wouldn't yell at him. Maybe. Hopefully. ]

Next time you get a bright idea, do it outside if you don't want to lose a limb or an organ.

[ Not yell, no. Scold though? Totally. She'd probably be shaking her finger at him if she didn't have books in her hands. ]

I will bear that in mind.

[ Scolding wasn't as bad. But still a little bit bad. ]

Having fun watching us clean up? [ He looked at Philip with raised eyebrows, but really didn't mind doing it as long as Weiss didn't get too scary. ]

[ It's a library, she's not going to yell in the library. ]

He's going to help clean up once the reaction's done.

[ There's a pointed look in Philip's direction. If he doesn't watch then what was the point of all this? ]

[ He sighs, but he does grab some newspaper and start mopping up the table around the volcano. ]

I have no respect for the sanctity of this prison, Weiss Schnee.

[ John peered over at Weiss with a small smile, as if to thank her for being considerate of Philip. ]

Maybe not, but I do know you love these books.

[ Weiss held some books up over her mouth in case the cameras were watching, speaking a little quieter. ]

The library is the only place that actually has useful information here that we have access to, and if anyone wants to get away with anything here, the best way is to look like we're doing what the Warden wants and make her think she's getting her way. Plus-

[ And Weiss lowers the books from her mouth as she sets them on a nearby table, raising her volume to normal again. ]

I doubt the guards care whether you respect it or not when they're deciding if they're going to beat you or run you through with something for breaking the rules.

The books themselves don't matter, John Smith. What matters is what's inside them.

[ Yeah, yeah, Weiss. That's why he's helping clean now. ]

But don't the outsides matter if they're there to keep the insides inside?

[ Very real question. ]

He means the information is important, not the physical text. [ There's a distinctive duh tone here. It looks like they've got most of the nearby bottom shelf books up anyway. ] The Warden might not replace them if we lose them. I'll go see if I can't borrow some towels from laundry.

[ He picks up the now mostly-dormant volcano and gives it a curious look. ] What shall we do with this?

I know what he meant, but I liked the sound of saying "insides inside".

[ He shrugged. ]

Do what you want with it. Keep it if you like. I haven't got a use for it.

[ Weiss is going to be leaving to go fetch some towels now, feel free to continue the thread without her for a bit and I'll just tag back in when she returns! ]

[ His eyes light up. He's just going to put this on a shelf in his room :D It'll be great. ]

What a curious chemical reaction, John Smith. I'll need to observe more.

[ Seeing that look on Philip's face made everything worth it. ]

Well, of course. I've already figured that. I've been thinking that we should make a time to meet every so often to do more experiments. What do you say?
