[ That discussion could be saved for later, though. Coffee wasn't good when it was cold. He held out a saucer with a cup on top, the liquid inside still emitting wafts of steam. ]

I want your honest opinion.

[ He sets his book aside, open and facedown on his bed so as not to lose his place, and takes the saucer and cup curiously. He takes a sip and he just about almost drops the cup in shock. ]

This-- Ryu Terui, this is astounding!

[ At that, he gave a smirk. He seemed pretty pleased with himself. ]

By far! [ He takes another, larger, sip. ] How did you make this?!

[ Ryu crossed his arms. He really had no choice. Philip would pester him until he got what he wanted. Might as well make it beneficial both ways. ]

I will, but only on one condition: that if I ever need you to research something for a case you'll do it without question and without involving Hidari.

I don't want him to get in my way. When the time comes that I learn what I need to and am able to do what I promised my family I would accomplish the day they died, Shotaro Hidari is the last man in the universe that I need involved.

[ From the look on his face, it's evident that Philip still doesn't really understand.

[ It didn't matter if he understood. Ryu really didn't want him to. All that mattered was that he had agreed to it. ]
